The evolution trends of the stratospheric ozone in 1985 and 1991-1992
(the far equilibrium stability) |
It was calculated using equation (3) and the stratospheric minor constituents concentration values reported by J. Levine, The Photochemistry of Atmosphere, Earth, the other planets and comets, Academic Press, New York, 1985 and G. Braathen et al., EASOE 1991-92 experimental data CD-ROM, Norvegian Institute for Air Research, Oslo, 1995 |

All the roots of the characteristic equation are real and negative. Then, we are in the case (a) of Lyapounov theorem of stability. |
The stratospheric ozone layer reaches a steady-state for any values of the ozone pollutant concentration. |

* Upper limit
** Lower limit |
The natural and anthropogenetic ways to destroy ozone are now separated. |
The left margins of the pollutant domains are the lower limits of the "natural" pollution. |
The corresponding ozone concentration is their upper limit, which has been reached at the beginning of the ozone layer formation. |
The right margins represent the upper limits of the anthropogenetic "permitted" pollution. |
|
The steady-state existence condition |
|
The natural limits and the limits of the permitted pollution for NO2 and HO2 are included in the ozone layer stability domain. |
